Player Selection Process

To achieve our goal of providing a healthy and beneficial game environment, it is necessary to build the competition level in both Major and Minor divisions with the highest impact players. Selecting the most appropriate and deserving players for the BEL is an organized process that is executing with the coordination of our Board of Directors. With multiple perspectives, we are able to make credible and calculated decisions for player invites. Our Board of Directors use their knowledge of games watched during the regular season along with some off-season events to assess age-eligible players. All players participating at the top youth levels (Bantam AA/A, Peewee AA/A) are viewed through the year. There is no “nomination process” necessary for interested players/families as our processes are set in place to watch all MN teams. The general outlook for BEL player selection is to find the highest impact players at their age group, regardless of position or player identity.

EARLY INVITES

During the Fall that precedes the upcoming season (ex. Fall 2023 for the 2024 season), our Invites are released for both the Major and Minor Divisions. These lists cover roughly 70-80 % of total spots available in the league. Selected players have a limited time period to register and lock in their spot so we are able to determine how many remaining players need to be selected at each position.

2024 Invites will be Released April

SPRING TRYOUTS

Following the regular season, tryout sessions for both the Major and Minor divisions will be held in the Spring. We will be reserving 15-20% of available spots for this process.

2024 Tryouts will be the first Week in June
